Thumbing my way through

The human body, a complex organization of varied parts and mechanism, works wonders but even the smallest of the glitch can bring life to a standstill! Seriously these are definitely words not stringed out of sheer wild imagination but out of experience and by this don’t imagine me suffering from some grave disease… I could say this malfunction or a disordered function was nothing more than a mild pain but sure did it bring my daily activities to a grinding halt.
From this mild experience did I realize how vital any small part can be for us! Everything together in their best conditions can ONLY keep the body in the finest state. I can’t tell you how much I’ve realized about the astonishing performance of the body and the time’s it takes to fall are so perfectly coordinated with the time you need it the most.
This is something I learnt from the recent torturous experience of a slight pain in my thumb (and duh! No prizes for guessing my right one!) And how everything went haywire off!
It was the weekend before the first Cycle test (our periodical tests read: fast forwarded tortures, as it ends in a jiffy!), the time when all of us start learning the names of our subjects and slowly searching for books and not to mention the portions. And bang when I tried to write something, a jolt of pain just rushed through my thumb. Writing had become an absolute tormentor. Holding a pen and bet you anything was totally tormenting for my thumb. And for a person who does almost everything with her right hand and almost nil usage of my left, it was just impossible to do like anything. Thumb is the part of the hand that makes us hold things and has let us reach to what we are now. Everything done with our hands needs total co-ordination of the dear thumb, and when it ceases the activities of the whole hand just come crashing down!
Those days it was impossible to eat, Dress, bathe, hold anything, cycle, write and god knows what not! Now is it that I understand how much it would have value to an archer. Taken from our own epic the Mahabharatha where Eklavya had cut his thumb off as gurudakshina for his illicit procurement of gyan from Dronacharya. Seriously cutting someones thumb off is like whoa! Man… how can someone that too an archer who’s all skill and talent is solely dependent on the well being of their thumb. It’s like asking the nightingale Lata to give her vocal chords off to her guru.
But ya, coming back to my thumb crisis. I was totally clueless as such a problem had never lasted more than a few hours ever. But this time and the timings were just too perfect to get the point clear of total pure torture. Due to the dire arrangement of circumstances I was left with no other choice but to run off to the college hospital famous for their awfully accurate diagnosis!(for those who know less about the afore mentioned place it was sarcasm intended) and maybe it was luck shining the doctors were not available then. Didn’t know whether I had to thank my stars but then had to go to another nearby hospital, which generally is always deserted had this terrible queue outside it. Mauphy’s law proving itself right over and over again. :D Luck again and had ended up with the most grumpiest doc there! Who just kept screaming relentlessly at my thumb. And concluded that it was some tendon inflammation, Man! I wonder how the hell did I end up with it.. had her course and due to no change in pain had to approach the coll doc’s who happily told me it was due to “wear and tear”, man that saying always seemed so mild but when to comes to my thumb, man I was shit worried! Then came the exams which I happily screwed big time, but anyway who can rewrite fate ;) thumb pain or no pain, that that has to be screwed will be under any circumstances ;)
Now weeks later after that thumb feels kinda alright but still I have not even the vaguest idea of what had happened then to my thumb, after several x-rays and doc visit I’m as much in the dark as I was in earlier. Just hoping the pain doesn’t plan a visit again!

Aamchi Mumbai And Namma Chennai!

Mumbai, the land of dreams! Truly most of the people here when they have big dreams always plan to hit Mumbai... It’s considered as the land of opportunities. The very same picture has been shown in our very own bollywood to emphasize the same. Anyone dreaming big runs off to Mumbai!
But the biggest question I feel like asking is that once you’re in Mumbai where the hell do you get time to dream. I agree that the place is always running amok but free time is one rare thing in this land. Through the night I see people scurrying into buses, autos and taxis running all over the city as if it’s just a darker day… Believe it maybe possibly the only place in India where I could have encountered the following situations.
Situation 1: We call up for an electrician, newly moved into our home; hell did we need a lot of work to be done. That fellow then asks us for the time when he should arrive for work, we just think that afternoon hours being the most clear tell to be here around 11-12 and the reply came. Tonight right!! :o
Situation 2: as we didn’t have much of any plans for a Saturday morning we ask the driver to come at 12 or 1230 as we wanted to go out then, again he responds afternoon ya night??
Bet you people this is one place where you need to mention a.m. or p.m. in CAPS!! ;)
But then coming to this place after having living Chennai for like so many years has both its ups n downs!!
For one the auto and taxi drivers actually charge us based on the meter reading which is like ancient history in Chennai. I mean I feel happy to jus tell the auto driver the area and not mention any other details to get transported there without any questions or complaints. There are times when they don’t have like 1 or 2Rs change they’ll be like wait ma’am; they’ll run around and make sure we get our dues. Something never seen in Chennai where all transactions take place in multiples of 10 or preferably 20!
Both places have their own pretty charm which allures everyone to them. The charisma of both the places definitely is a difficult thing to let go off. Coming to college from there, was indeed a tough task. The glamour of Mumbai and the hospitality of Chennai are like the biggest thing amiss.
Kudos to them!:)

Pirates of the music!

Piracy! One thing that has entered every stream today. Just a few days back we were just talking about it and I kinda realized that the music industry should be broke dry by now. Sometimes these people are faster than them release the music way before they are officially out. Man this can be seriously depressing when they plan up big functions called music launch and all and you hear what someone outside walks with the those unreleased songs playing loud outta his phone. But then this definitely has its plus points for us obviously we get all the new songs right at our fingertips and asap. But from the viewpoint of the makers it’s a pure disaster. With all this in mind few days back just went to Music World expecting a deserted place but OMG! Man, wasn’t I shocked like crazy! It was filled with people, and not only that they were with baskets with heaps of the cds! People are still buying cd’s and that too vigorously!!! Bet you definitely a big shock!!
But it’s nice to see that people still believe in originality owning racks of CD’s boasting of the original holograms. Others truly can be called the pirates of music!!

A class to remeber :D

heyyo!!
Hmmm.. this time I cant think of anything to blog about, but as I'm sitting here bored, guess I'll write up something to kill it(boredom of course!)
Hmm.. Oh!
I've got an idea guess ill write about this class we had in college.. It was great.. I mean the class as in the lecture was drop dead boring but whatever happened other than in class was fun! at least I felt so.
It was sometime in the middle of the semester. I guess it was a Monday or a Friday or some day in between of those all-classes-cancelled-totally-free-to-bunk days cluster, Oh this day had a few classes but owing to its positioning very very few people had turned up. Needless to say the rest were happily settled off at home(that pleasure only being enjoyed by the Chennai-ites)!
Shockingly I hadn't gone home and was stuck in this boring class room with a prof who didn't care what people did just kept muttering(to himself) great facts of god knows which subject!;)
The class starts off and I was happily seated in the side row last bench, great view of the class but nil of the prof or vice versa. Not even his droning voice could penetrate the air barrier around myself( or maybe coz his voice is really faint) but whatever the reason was the position was great for a good morning but slightly cramped nap. I had a slight fever too, I'm sure its due my over-sincerity in bothering to attend this class(but did I have a choice, attendance was taken for every damn class),so just put my head down. Coz rest is what you need when ur ill right!:)(with pleasure!!)
Suddenly this girl, brown eyes(names changed...obviously!) wakes me up.It seemed as if i had slept for like an hour or so.I checked my watch and saw it showed 11:35 when the class started around 11:25, pls..don't tell me this watch too has stopped working! This semester alone i can say around 3 of my watches have got damaged irreparably1 now not again!!:( I just had to check my mobile and found the large clock on it displaying 11:36!! what even after i slept time ceased to move!!This is unfair i cried!! Ok..Ok... now back to why she woke me up.. i thought maybe sir was looking this direction wonder why, maybe coz i was seated close to the window and he was enjoying the sights outside it, god knows! what runs in his mind!!But no, the first thing she asked was, hey name that new madhavan movie na?? man, man..where was this world going to people asking me details about Tamil movies..whoa! She was busy planning the free afternoon she had ahead(sadly only her, i had lab!:( )She was busy collecting data about the theatres and the show timings(at least she had something to keep her busy and stop from dozing off). The she started the planning train of thoughts and guess she spent the class fruitfully.Seriously everyone comes for this class considering it as some time pass class, i tell you most were busy taking down notes(but mind you of some other subject or busy filling records).
Didn't wanna sleep again so i thought maybe ill try enjoying the sights and sounds outside the window.Ahh..there was a crowd of cows out there(u think crowd isn't the collective noun for cows:p who cares). there were some that were tall must be the mumma and papa cow, or their aunts or uncles who also lived in the same campus, but as there were many tall cows(now now don't imagine some 7 foot tall mutant cows all that i mean those full grown ones). guess they followed joint family system, but man! seriously a big family. Or maybe their relatives have come from other pockets of this village we are in and the localites of the campus were taking them on a sight-seeing tour. never know what they were up to, there were so many kids (i.e. those thin baby cows with glowing skin which they i guess will soon get dirtied and ll rival the elders) they just kept loitering around, found a good green patch for themselves and started munching, kids followed in. don't these cows get bored eating the same thing day after day after, no spice no masala nothing, how do they survive and become so fat also... What would a fat cow say, i became so coz i couldn't resist binging on the lush green GRASS??? what??? the rate at which they keep chomping relentlessly, i guess they too are responsible for global warming, isn't it so??!!
Between this solace of thought another friend Ms.Kutty(names not changed:P) started calling all of us and guess what she asked for?? Stones.. she was almost in the first bench and was absolutely irritated and wanted to throw something. getting excited by this idea and silently ditching her busy planning schedule work;) miss:brown eyes started breaking off the beads from the end of her dupatta and started throwing it off on the empty metal bench in front of her and man! that did make quite a lot of noise. But still our busy prof: Dr. mumble jumble didn't hear a thing. was still in his sweet world of whatever he was muttering or scribbling on the board. This did wake me up for sometime and look around the class also. there was Ms:man;)busily finishing off her record work totally oblivious to all the crap going on around her, her face had the expression like that of a man(no pun intended;) or maybe;) ) with an aim and that nothing whatsoever could come in between. i bet even if Mr;mumble jumble intercepted her work, she would kick him hard and continue(not that all of us wouldn't try doing that but she would definitely!!!:)) The guys were busily sleeping, playing something or messaging others who were in similar stuck positions!:D
Similar to this is what happened every class and bet you my situation was pretty much the same in the exam too!!!

Healthy fantasies!

What was it that made us run and play always when we were kids.. and now all that joy is happily forgotten for other so called delights like watching TV, or getting glued to the net!!
All these came to me in an incident few days back...
i was tired after having this very long arduous day in the lab. just wanted to reach home asap. As i was just about to shut the elevator, a bunch of sweaty kids come running in. "Oh God! why today..the journey to the 4Th floor is gonna be stinky and noisy!!":( But then what did i see just half the bunch enters. Now, now what are these kids up to.. I saw the other half taking the stairs. They put up this bet about who'll reach 4th floor first and ring the door bell!
Ha ah! how dumb! how can these guys run up faster than the lift which is mechanised and takes up the shorter path! But believe me i was dumbstruck when i heard the doorbell ring just as we reached the fourth floor..These guys in the lift were like crap, they've reached and broke out from the lift..
I don't know what keeps the adrenaline pumping in these kids, but whatever it is, good for them, makes them run and enjoy the true beauties of nature! We have happily forgotten or have ignored all this, but it definitely doesn't mean anything good.
Seriously then I started thinking maybe even I should go out and play sometime. Belonging to a family where morning walks are a daily ritual and even during heavy rains I find my dad either taking umbrella and going for a walk or walk around the house a hundred odd times. Dunno whats it about being fit and exercising daily in my family, but one things for sure, those genes have definitely missed me!
Still even after hundred odd provocation and at times threats from my parents i have hardly spared a thought about exercise,;) the lazy genes are just to dominant in my body, but these kids seriously made me feel worse..
But maybe i should start of atleast trying to keep myself healthy and fit.Wait who am i kidding..No chance! ;)
Some habits die hard!!:)
yawn!:)

Comeback!

Hello!:) Its seriously a very VERY(emphasis) long time since I've put up any post.I simply cant pin point any reason for that too. I definitely cant say that I didn't have time or something like I was too busy:D but somehow couldn't pull myself to write. whenever something funny or thought provoking happened in my life I used to always think "Ah ah I should write about this and that", and at time when I'll be simply sitting obviously without the comp. Then I sit up and think of ways of putting up the various ideas of mine and then put up this and that and all.. but it never happens. Seriously procrastination is every ones enemy.. closes in to us like a friend indeed;) but then do we lately maybe or may not we realise the harm it causes. I've just never been able to even think about all this..
i still have no clue about why am i cribbing about all this here.. but i just guessed that maybe if i write and let myself know about my laziness i may come out of it.. hoping to kick start my blog again!!:)
All the best to me!!:)

The Begginings!

To come back to college after a long spell of relaxation and Good food(read:holidays)is seriously an herculean task.To suddenly leave the cosy and luxurious confines of home..OMG... who am i kidding. Seriously a task in itself!
The first days of hostel are generally pure torture. Dusting age old dust, transferring stuff, cleaning up the silver-fish plus spider infested cupboards...seriously dread this day throughout the holidays. But once everything is in place life begins again, just the next day it is like I've been here all my life! Home forgotten(but thanks to our dear mess, not always forgotten)and life is back to normal.
But till now as in all these 4 semesters of mine I've seriously found the first few weeks seriously boring, with absolutely no work and sudden over dose of free time;), we always end up wondering what to do! But all semesters i tell you we somehow manage to find some pastime however dumb but some time-pass at least!
First sem i remember, as all of us were new the first few weeks flew away in getting to know other people chatting and about our life histories day-in and day-out!This was the time when friends were made, gossip begun and college life had started(oops... hostel i mean).
Second and third semester beginnings went off in our mad craze for UNO cards. Screaming uno at the top of our voices, laughing our head off for some people's charm of getting the maximum draw two's or draw four's ant then cribbing when the tables turn and we end with the maximum or losing out to a collector of cards..;) we had gone to an extent of even thinking of starting an uno club but as usual once the first few weeks get over, everyone gets busy in their busy schedule and the uno cards are left behind, long forgotten to gather dust.
Fourth sem, i could say we did have the most worthwhile of pastimes! We had got the craze of solving Hindu crosswords which was a way too tough in the start, but due to no other choice we just kept solving more and more day by day, till it reached kind of an addiction status, ad as all our old pastimes have ended even this ended with the same status. But this seriously made us realize how poor our vocabulary was and gave us an ideal opportunity to learn more!!Free time is something we always have but utilizing them is an art which i we'll never learn;) so lets stop cribbing and start enjoy the scores of free time!!
